EFTSL value of units : All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

Admission requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy that includes meeting a minimum ATAR requirement.

International applicants must meet the English Language Requirements as defined in the Admissions to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:

Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English.

Prerequisite for study in Mathematics: Units 3 and 4: Mathematical Methods

Definition

A Major is 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at 100-level, at least 40 cp at 200-level and at least 20 cp from 300-level.

A Minor is 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at 100-level and at least 20 cp at 200/300-level.

Completion requirements

To qualify for the degree, a student must complete:

240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 160 cp from:
  2. 2 Arts Majors (Part A); or
  3. 1 Arts Major (Part B) and 2 Arts Minors (Part C);
  4. 10 cp from BA Degree Capstone units: HUMA330 Community Engagement: Placement or HUMA331 Big Ideas: Social Enterprise and Innovation (Part D);
  5. 50 cp from
  6. Electives units[1] (Part E) OR
  7. 20 cp from the Arts Scholar Program Units (Part G) and 30 cp from Elective units[1] (Part E);
  8. 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units (Part F);

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.

Exit points

Students who have met the requirements of the Diploma in Liberal Arts can exit with that award.

Progression requirements

Unless otherwise specified, students must complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300-level) in that sequence. Any additional prerequisites for individual units are shown in brackets after the unit in the Schedule of Unit Offerings.
